EAST LANSING, Mich. — State Rep. Julie Brixie (D-Meridian Township) released the following statement regarding the resignation of Michigan State University Interim President John Engler:

“I want to thank the MSU Trustees who stepped up and did the right thing in asking for President Engler to resign as Interim President of Michigan State University. Students, faculty and the entire MSU community deserve a president who will lead with compassion, empathy and the capacity to heal. Most of all, I hope the MSU Board of Trustees will work diligently to select a new president who is devoted to creating a culture that supports, rather than silences, survivors. Nothing short of this will restore the integrity of Michigan State University.”
