Performance Grant Announced for RPM Freight Systems

Grant would support business expansion in Royal Oak

ROYAL OAK — The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) announced this week that RPM Freight Systems, LLC in Royal Oak would qualify for a $3.75 million Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant to support its plans to expand operations in the city. RPM provides transportation services associated with freight, finished vehicle and bulk commodities across North America.

State Rep. Jim Ellison (D-Royal Oak), who advocated for the grant, celebrated the announcement and the 500 new jobs this project will bring to the community.

“After serving as the mayor of Royal Oak for 13 years, I’m proud to see our city serve as an example of how to rebuild and reinvent itself,” said Ellison. “RPM is the perfect example of how businesses come to Royal Oak for its supportive business climate and stay to grow with us for years to come. The families of our communities can be assured that this grant will serve as an economic boost to the region and allow RPM to remaining an outstanding role model for growth and leadership in the future.”

RPM’s proposed project is expected to generate $4.9 million of private investment which the company plans to reinvest in its employee network and renew its deep commitment to the community.
